First Candle Light Dinner of Residents at Digntiy Lifestyle
Amidst a lot of secrecy to create suspense
and surprise to the 50 odd residents, the Management Team
of DL worked hard to make the first candle light dinner
a night to remember. Rain or Sweltering Summer.... Neral
has to be made a beautiful habitable location for retirees
and what better than pleasing their palette!
A Candle Light Dinner was the conspiracy hatched a week
ago to give to residents that was uncommon -- a different
style, decor and food.....very different from the mundane,
the daily run of the mill.
The chosen place was the corridor between the cottages of
Block 1, for want of a better space accessible to the kitchen
and its infrastructure.
A delicate decor in aroma and colour made the entrance experience
to each resident a surprise surprise. A line of Dignity Staff
greeted their entrance with a smiling rose, what with a Staff
Photographer in attendance!
And the Notice had said "Only
in Formal Clothes! So we saw each resident very nicely
dressed for the occasion. Kidos to the Residents for being
such a Sport!
Parrot Green and Red and
White were the chosen colours of the decor from dinner plate,
flower vase, flowers and even the Sula Wine and French Reveria
and candles!
Asked Prema Hiremath:" I cannot
believe the way all this has been done. Do you think we
deserve all this?"
Pat came the answer from
Sheilu: "You
all deserve this and more. SO we are going to do this each
month as a way to bond and belong."
So swore the staff --
stewards, cooks and all -- that month after month we will
join in the celebration of life with Senior Citizens by doing
something SPECIAL for them.
The Welcome Toast by Sheilu set the tone for why seating
arrangements were what they were....and join in the mirth
and gaiety!
The chief Chefs -- Puran Singh and Ramesh -- were given
a special Toast as all other boys who merrily chipped in
the formality of the evening. The newness of serving at the
sitting dinner delighted them as they saw a new opportunity
to learn and integrate into the world of Hospitality.
Started at 7:30 pm and
ended at 9:30 pm.
Voluntary singing and chatting filled the air amidst excitement
at the Menu!

- Red Wine and White, with Vegetable Dip on the table
- Hot and Sour Soup with choicest Breads on the table
FIRST COURSE:
- Vegetarian Augratin
- Cheese Balls
SECOND COURSE
- Fried Rice
- Capsicum Stuffed
- Rice Pappad
THIRD COURSE
- Apple Pie with custard Sauce
We forgot to serve Liquore at the end!
And we forgot to light the candle till quarter way into
the Dinner!
And we forgot this....forgot that......first time na!
